What’s Happening in January with Brian Woodcock, Managing Director Clever Marketing
What attracted you to setting up your company?
I started life as a Junior Sales Executive working in Print and as my career grew from strength to strength realised that I wanted to be in charge of my own destiny and from working with a number of amazing companies, saw an opportunity to launch my own Digital Marketing Communications Agency – Clever Marketing.
What gives you the most satisfaction in your job?
In the beginning it was all about the sale, I am a natural salesman at heart and ultimately like winning new business. As time has gone on however, I get proud of delivering outstanding work that the team has developed and see the positive response from our clients, whether it be delivering a brand new website – or delivering creative campaigns that answer clients’ needs.
What advice can you give to individuals looking for jobs right now?
Look at every experience as an opportunity to learn how business works, improve your skills and what value you can provide a future employer. Positivity, together with tenacity is fundamental to driving success.
What are you most looking forward to most this year?
We have big plans for business growth in 2019 – with a healthy pipeline already. I am looking forward to develop the accounts we have and build new ones, in addition to the team continuing to grow and develop their skills.
What’s your favourite brand?
After the Christmas festivities I have taken to Dry January. On any other month I have an affinity with a local brand – Silent Pool Gin!
What music makes you feel most creative at work?
Bohemian Rhapsody was a favourite film of 2018 – and having Queen on in the background definitely helps.
What quote inspires you the most?
“It’s all about the why – Simon Sinek” This was a quote from a well known marketing guru about outstanding marketing from excellent companies, but I also believe that its relevance is broader. If you can totally understand what makes a company tick you can use that knowledge to market more effectively to its prospects and customers. Equally if you really understand what makes a person tick – you can help answer their needs and make them more productive and personally fulfilled.
