Managing Director, DPC
What’s Happening in May with Graham Darracott, MD of DPC
What attracted you to starting your company?
I always enjoyed “building things” from my teenage years with engines and motorcycles, and evolving to build websites, apps, and online campaigns: the internet/online allows you to build whatever you can imagine or desire… our only limit is our imagination and our vision.
What gives you the most satisfaction in your job?
Having a happy and effective team.
Having clients that love working with us, and appreciate the work we deliver to them.
Building cool s**t that works.
What advice can you give to individuals looking for jobs right now?
You need to be either:
A – outstanding at what you do, one of the best in your field.
B – have a genuine and insatiable passion to learn to be “the best you can be” in a specific task/field/role.
If you aren’t the best at what you do then you must have the eager-want to learn to be the best!
I meet so many people who “claim” to be “budding” or “junior” designers/developers/marketers but have never done anything in their own time to learn the very basics. The people we hire run their own online campaigns (just for fun or to test theories), build or design their friends and family’s websites, and help out local businesses with their burgeoning talent.
What are you most looking forward to most this year?
Ascot – our company summer party: I love seeing all our team coming together and enjoying a flamboyant day at the races (all on the company).
The final resolution of Brexit – I just wish the government would stop bickering and get on with their job.
The next phase of our company (interesting things are afoot at dpc towers)….
What’s your favourite brand?
innocent drinks (I would say that as we make their packaging), everyone loves the innocent tone of voice, design and language.
Burton snowboards – amazing brand that never plays by the rules.
Both always remain true to themselves, know exactly who and why they exist, and remain the benchmark of their sectors.
What music makes you feel most creative at work?
I am old (and decrepit) and love old school rock. Played loudly. Very loudly.
But its not about me, it’s about the team here… music is unbelievably personal, and everyone works to different tunes and different moods.
What quote inspires you the most?
“Life’s a journey not a destination”
